Prof Kane is Consultant Rheumatologist & General Physician at the Tallaght University Hospital and Clinical Professor of Rheumatology at Trinity College Dublin. His principal clinical and academic interests are Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging of Inflammatory Arthritis and Musculoskeletal Ultrasound guided Intervention. He has authored over 100 peer reviewed original articles and book chapters. He has delivered invited lectures at the EU League Against Rheumatism (EULAR), American College of Rheumatology, Asian Pacific League Against Rheumatism (APLAR), Australian and New Zealand League Against Rheumatism (ANZLAR) and British Society for Rheumatology(BSR) annual and scientific meetings and musculoskeletal ultrasound courses since 2003 and is an active member of the EULAR working group on musculoskeletal ultrasound in Rheumatology and the OMERACT special interest group in musculoskeletal ultrasound. He is currently President of the Irish Society for Rheumatology and the HSE Clinical Programme Lead for Rheumatology.
