Dr Garret McDermott is Principal Clinical Neuropsychologist at TUH working in the Institute of Memory & Cognition. This includes roles in the Regional Specialist Memory Clinic and the National Intellectual Disability Memory Service.  His role entails neuropsychological assessment for differential diagnosis of dementia and post-diagnostic supports including support with living with a neurodegenerative condition and cognitive rehabilitation in dementia.

Prior to this he worked in acute Neurology also at TUH, mental health services for older persons, neuro-behavioural rehabilitation, and long term care settings. Garret is a longstanding committee member of the Psychological Society of Ireland’s Division of Neuropsychology and former chair. He has worked with the committee to devise the Specialist Competencies Framework for Adult Clinical Neuropsychology which is the first framework of its type in an Irish context.
