Education & Experience

BSc; LRCP & SI, MB, BCh, BAO (Hons); IMRCS; MCh; PgDipHSc; FRCS(Urol)

He did his basic and higher surgical training in Ireland in Urology. He also graduated with Master of Surgery (MCh) from Trinity College Dublin. Mr. Thomas completed a fellowship in Urological Oncology at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston Texas in the United States prior to taking up a consultant post in Ireland in 2016. He remains on faculty at MD Anderson Cancer Centre as Adjunct Assistant Professor. 

His primary clinical interests are in all Urological Cancers including prostate, bladder, kidney and testis cancers.  He also has a major interest in minimally invasive surgery especially laparoscopic and robotic surgery.  Other major interests include General Urology, Men’s Health and Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

Achievements

He remains very active in clinical research and education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Teaching through NUI Galway.

Professional Memberships

He is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, a member of the American Urological Association and Irish Society of Urology as well as Fellow of the Society of Urologic Oncology in the United States.
