NOTICE FOR PARENTS AND FAMILIES ON ON-GOING INMO INDUSTRIAL ACTION

CHI(February 6th 2019) The INMO held a strike day yesterday Tuesday 5th Feb and is planning the next day strike day tomorrow, Thursday 7th Feb. The INMO is also planning three further strike days w/c Mon 11th Feb (on Tues 12th – Thurs 14th Feb)

With regard to the three children’s hospitals in Children’s Health Ireland (CHI) located at Crumlin, Temple Street and Tallaght, please kindly note the following;   

Planning for Industrial Action Thurs 7th Feb

  • parents whose children are due to be admitted as in-patients or Day Cases or are due to have a consultant or nurse-led OPD appointment this Thurs 7thFeb HAVE been contacted by the individual hospitals regarding postponement of admission or appointment
  • if your child has an OPD appointment scheduled for a non-strike day, this appointment will go ahead as normal
  • if you have booked a blood test (phlebotomy appointment) for your child on our SwiftQueue system on https://www.cuh.ie/phlebotomy-children-and-families/ on a strike day, this appointment will not take place but you should receive an automated email with a new date and time

 Planning for Industrial Action w/c Mon 11th Feb

  • the three children’s hospitals are now focused on planning for the next three days of industrial action w/c Mon 11th Feb
  • parents whose children are due to be admitted as in-patients or Day Cases this Fri 8th Feb, MAY also have been contacted by the individual hospitals regarding postponement of admission if required and in light of planned industrial action w/c Mon 11th Feb

Overall advice for parents and families

ED attendance on INMO strike days

  • on all planned strike days, we are continuing to ask parents to think about all their care and treatment options including their local family GP and GP out of hours service before attending the EDs (Emergency Departments) in our three children’s hospitals

ED attendance on non-strike days

  • our three EDs will operate with normal nurse staffing arrangements on non-strike days

OPD Appointments with HSCPs during INMO Industrial Action

  • if your child has an OPD appointment with a HSCP (Health and Social Care Professional) on a strike day or non-strike day, this appointment will go ahead as normal. HSCPs include Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Medical Social Workers, Audiologists and others.
